Sara Paiva

Brief Bio
Sara Paiva has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Vigo University and is making her post-doc studies in Universidad de Oviedo under the thematic of urban mobility. She is an invited professor at Instituto Politécnico de Viana do Castelo and currently coordinates the Applied Research Center for Digital Transformation. Her main research area is mobile/IoT solutions applied to the social inclusion promotion. Sara acts as project manager of several mobile projects such as final projects from degree and master courses, projects in partnership with companies and for social institutions. She has edited and co-edited books and special issues and has more than 20 publications among peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and conferences proceedings. Since December 2016 Sara is the coordinator of Inclusive School project, that works in straight collaboration with more than 15 social institutions.
Nishu Gupta
Vaagdevi College of Engineering (Autonomous)
Brief Bio
Dr. Nishu Gupta is specialized in the field of Communication and Networking. His major work is in the area of design and evaluation of MAC protocols to enhance safety applications in vehicular communication. Dr. Gupta received his B.Tech. (2005) and M.Tech. (2011). Between 2013-2016, he was a research scholar in Electronics and Communication Engineering department at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) Allahabad, India. Prior to obtaining his Postgraduate degree, he has served as Software Engineer in Infosys Technologies Ltd. and later as Technical Associate in Tech Mahindra Ltd. Dr. Gupta has published more than 28 research articles in highly reputed Journals and conferences of International standards. He has delivered numerous International presentations, most of them as a student, which is an incredible accomplishment. Dr. Nishu had been shortlisted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India for the Commonwealth Scholarship/Fellowship Plan, 2012 offered by the Government of United Kingdom. He has written two jointly authored books entitled ‘Advance Semiconductor Devices’ published by Springer and ‘Semiconductor Materials and Devices’ published by Scrivener-Wiley. He has been designated as Publicity Co-chair for the 8th and 7th International Conference on Advanced Materials Research (ICAMR 2018 in Japan and ICAMR 2017 in Hong Kong). Earlier also he was designated as Program Co-chair for the 6th International Conference on Advanced Materials Research (ICAMR 2016), Torino, Italy, 2016. Dr. Nishu is an active reviewer of numerous research articles in highly reputed Journals like IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, Computer Networks, Adhoc Networks, Vehicular Communication, Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing, Ad Hoc & Sensor Wireless Networks, Old City Publishing Journal of Organizational and End User Computing, etc. He has also reviewed book chapter in EAI/Springer Innovations in Communications and Computing, by Springer International Publishing. He is serving as member of various academic and professional bodies across the world. Presently, Dr. Gupta is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Vaagdevi College of Engineering, Warangal, India. He has the experience of teaching Wireless Communication, Basic Electronics, Principles of Communication, Data Communication and Networking, and related fields. His research interest includes wireless communication, device-to-device communication, heterogeneous networking, cognitive radio ad-hoc network, CRAN, etc.


The application domains of IoT and mobile systems are very broad and citizens in general can benefit from technological solutions developed for them. This special track focuses on a specific segment of the population which are disabled people such as visually, hearing, motor impairment or other disability. Researchers are invited to submit their recent studies on new proposals to help disabled people in their lives, in domains that include health, tourism, mobility, transports, sports, leisures, etc.

TOPICS: E-Health solutions; New devices/hardware for disabled people; Embedded systems to promote autonomy of disabled people; Mobility improvements solutions for the disabled; Architectures and frameworks to promote social inclusion; ICT solutions for the disabled community; Obstacle avoidance systems; Indoor and outdoor navigation solutions; Smart services to help disabled people.
